Keeping It Together (Or, How The Struggle Is Real)

One of the toughest things about traveling the world alone is hearing the news from where you left. It isn’t because you necessarily miss what you ultimately flipped off, burnt, then pissed on the ashes. Although, the imagery is clear.

I’ve burned a lot of things in my day.

What The Actual Fuck Was Going On

The next day was when I found out what had actually happened to cause the change in emotions.

It started with when I had left the group a few days prior because everyone sort of left after I did except for Katherine and Ludo.

Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

The day I caught up with Ludo was the day that Katherine got sick on the road. I won’t go into all the gory details, but let’s just say that it is always a good idea to walk with wet wipes you can use on your bum as well as your face.

Yeah. It was that bad.

As such, my leg had been feeling well. When I got into La Romieu, some ten kilometers from where I’d stayed an extra day to let my shin muscle relax, I heard my name being called out and I turned to see Ludo, whom I had figured was at least another ten kilometers ahead as it was 11:30am or so, and he’d claimed to be walking at a thunder speed from that day forth. Whether we could keep up or not was considered our problem. I was excited because this meant I could try to walk with him a bit further before he ran off into the wild.

Cornucopia of Love

This week, I was speaking with a good friend of mine. We were discussing the hardships of life, relationships, the parallels of our situations, and whether he should be talking to me at 11pm at night while walking on some dark trails in his neighborhood (HE SHOULD NOT GODS).

We got to a lull in the conversation from laughing, and he said, “I know what I want for my birthday.”

I had jokingly asked him the weekend prior as I’d seen a terrible plushie of Kootie Pie (Wendy Koopa) at a gaming store and texted him the picture with, “What do you want for your birthday, Russ-L?” We had re-watched the entire first season of the Super Mario Bros. cartoon back in college and couldn’t stop laughing at Kootie’s response to Bowser for the same question: America.

Because even the Veruca of the Koopa Clan can’t resist that American Dream.

So Write And Draw And Build And Play And Dance And Live As Only You Can

This month has just started off with a doozy, hasn’t it? And it doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. The world just seems to be pressing down, the pressure not unlike how an apparition is described.
